Story

Hello all my dear friends. I am writing to you to tell you what a difference we made to Tyler as a result of us raising $15,000 last year as I ran the Melbourne marathon in October

Last night Susan and I attended as a guest of Tyler's parents the CPEC Charity dinner.  It was an emotional night. Mark who is Tyler's dad  told us how the wheelchair and the touch voice talking machine we funded for Tyler last year made a huge difference, Tyler is attending a normal school this year, and is learning a lot and have a great time he is mobile and causing havoc.. Which we all laughed about he is making many great friends also. He is such a cute kid.

Susan told me to smile and all I could say was I can’t as I am about to cry, yes very emotional to know that such a small thing we have done has been such a big thing for such a little man. It is wonderful to know that thru your generosity we have been able to help Tyler in such a profound way.

Life is about decision and last year about this time my son asked if we could by him a piano, we started looking and a good one was going to cost around $5,000. Susan and I started thinking that while it would be wonderful to be able to buy our son a piano for his music study we thought that donating that money to CPEC would make a big difference to Tyler and his family.

So we made a difference we donated over $5,000 to help Tyler and it feels wonderful. Of course we are not asking you to do the same. But even forgoing a bottle of wine or a night out with friends would make a significant contribution if you decided to donate that to my fund raising  efforts for this year.

Tyler has left CPEC so this year another child or several will benefit form our hard work. I really need your help please.

This year I am running the Melbourne Half Marathon instead of the full, but I will be getting back to the full in 2014. So for this years run I want to raise $21,100  which is lines up nicely with the distance...  21.1KM

With your wonderful support I have raised close to $50,000 for the kids and families in the last 4 years. I am trying to raise $21,100 this year which would provide 8 Mobility suits so that these young brave kids can gain more mobility.

CPEC is acknowledged as a world leader in providing specialist education programs for children with cerebral palsy. The CPEC professional staff who work at the Centre in Glen Waverley are renowned internationally as the best in their field. It costs around $15,000 per child per year to receive eight hours of service per week for 40 weeks. They receive nearly $5,500 per child from the State Government. The $9,500 shortfall is offset by the families who pay fees, do fundraising and seek donations.

I would be very grateful for your donation and if you could please share this story to your friends I would very much appreciate it.

CPEC (Cerebral Palsy Education Centre)

CPEC is a unique and specialised service for children and young people with Cerebral Palsy and similar conditions and their families. We are the only Centre of its type in Australia and we are recognised around the world for our success in working with children with CP.
We provide physiotherapy, occupational and speech therapy to children as well as helping them to access essential equipment they need in their daily lives. Every single child who attends CPEC no matter how severe their disability learns to communicate. If you are switched on but can't tell others what you feel or need life can be very frustrating. Learning to communicate is life changing.

It currently costs $34,000 per child per year to receive the much needed “Learning for Life” education programs from CPEC. The Government only funds $7,900 of this so we rely on generous people making donations to help keep us operating.
Our kids are inspiring overcoming obstacles to perform everyday activities, we need your support to help them live as independetly as possible.
